| Association for Behavior Analysis International’s 2nd Autism Conference: "Issues and Recent Advancements in the Behavioral Treatment of Autism: Practical Strategies for Changing Behavior at Home and School" |

Summary: The focus of this conference is home- and community-based interventions, and curriculum and instruction in the classroom/school, which be of interest to teachers of preschool and school-age children with ASD, adult service providers, in-home behavioral therapists, caregivers, teacher trainers, and students.

For Parents:
An Introduction to ABA for Young Children with Autism |

For Six (6) weeks
|
This 6-week course is for parents of young children between the ages of 18 months and 5
years who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (PDD, ASD, autism) and who
wish to learn about applied behavior analysis treatment for their young children with autism.
Goals for the class are for parents to learn to 1) assess basic functional communication skills
for their child,
2) identify reinforcers (motivators!) for their child and how to use them,
3)
teach basic functional communication skills to their child, and
4) other needs specific to the
children represented by class participants. |

For Parents:
Intro to Applied Behavior Analysis for Kids with ADHD |
March 13, 2008
For Four (4) weeks
|
This 4-week course is for parents of children who have been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD and who struggle with completing routine tasks like chores and homework. Goals for the class are for parents to learn to:
1) structure routines at home that can facilitate learning coping skills and independence,
2) use praise to get the best behavior from their child,
3) set goals for their child,
4) objectively measure progress toward those goals,
5)successfully fade use of prompts and schedules,
6) other needs specific to the children represented by class participants. |
